It's amazing how often pictures of quilts pop up on that list. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to find out which photos have been Explored, even among your own contacts. So I thought it would be nice to start a Flickr group specifically for explored quilts.
Is Flickr's top-secret formula for determining a photo's "interestingness" valid? That's debatable. Two of my best quilts (in my opinion) didn't make it into Explore, while one photo that I considered a throwaway actually did. The whole thing can be a little mysterious. But you have to admit, there's some serious pretty up there in the mosaic.
So please go join the Explored Quilts Flickr group! And if you have photos of quilts that have been explored, please add them to the group. To find out which of your photos have been explored, go to http://flickr-explorer.com/ and type in your Flickr screen name.
Fun idea to start an Explored group - I totally agree about the "inerestingness" algorithm, or whatever it is - I suspect it has a thing for orange, given that the two photos I've had explore'd were both totally out of my comfort zone and very orange. Thank you for that eye candy - you've reminded me that I want to make a values quilt this year!! I totally love the one in your mosaic! :)
ReplyDeleteLike the idea! :) I'm going to have to pay closer attention to this now. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI'm always curious about the quilts that are explored vs. ones that aren't. I checked, just because I was curious. One of my favorite quilts I made this year was explored twice, a month apart. I think one of the pictures of it was "in progress" on my back deck... and most likely a picture i took with my iphone. Funny, funny. Luckily, its a quilt I love. Happy Friday.
ReplyDeleteThanks for listing mine in your mosaic. This is a fun idea to collect a great variety of quilts. Thanks for starting the group.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! Thanks for including my quilt.
ReplyDeleteTheir definition of "interestingness" is ummm... interesting. There are a lot of theories out there but I have never seen one seem completely right.
Jennifer :)
What a great idea! I just added several to my favorites list.
ReplyDeleteI had thought about doing this a while back too... it'll be fun to see them all together. :)
ReplyDeleteI've never had any photos in explore. *sob!*.
