Fun and Funner

Two things I'm loving this week:

Project Selvage. OMG, it's Project Runway for fabric designers. You guys! The winner gets a contract with Michael Miller. Is it hopelessly dorky that I can barely contain my excitement? To enter, you must upload a baby-boy-theme print to Spoonflower by March 24. I'm totally entering. And it just so happens that I am currently overflowing with inspiration for my print. Of course, there's only about a gazillion crazy-talented designers on Spoonflower, but it'll be fun just to throw my hat into that ring. For the next week or two, my goal is to spend about 20 minutes a day sketching. We'll see what I come up with.

Modern Madness. Somebody at Fat Quarterly (my money's on John) was brilliant enough to combine two of my favorite things in life—modern fabric and the NCAA basketball tournament. In Fat Quarterly's version of the tournament, the top 64 modern fabric lines will square off against each other, eventually determining the coolest fabric line in the history of ever. And we all get to vote! And fill out brackets! And unlike in the real tournament, I actually know something about the competitors! It's so much fun, I'm ending all of my sentences with exclamation points!

My predictions for the Modern Madness Final Four? Parisville, Sherbet Pips, Modern Meadow, and Hope Valley. My ultimate champion: Modern Meadow. Wanna play along? Click here.

  5. I picked FFAII for the win. I think Heather Ross might pinch out MM after the Martha Stewart show this week...
Parisville, Innocent Crush, FFAII and Echino for the final 4.
