We went to the Brewers game on Sunday, and THIS was my lunch. It's a "barbecue parfait." Layers of pulled pork, beef brisket, and mashed potatoes, garnished with barbecue sauce and chives. Yes, it was every bit as awesome as it looks. No, I couldn't finish it. McLurky polished it off for me. But I'll still need to go to the gym at least 15 times this week to make up for it.
And speaking of McLurks, just look at what my awesome goofball husband did. Yes, that is the scoreboard at Miller Park, and yes, it says "wonky & freshly pieced hexi blocks rule!" I love that it didn't occur to him to put something like, "Happy birthday to my beautiful wife." (My birthday was Friday.) Nope, not my husband. LOL. (Sorry about the cruddy iphone photo taken through the ball screen.)So, would you like to try some 100% Egyptian cotton thread? I've got trial packs with all four of Aurifil's thread weights, plus a spool of their wool thread, to give away. Just tell me what message YOU would put on the scoreboard at a major sporting event. What do you want the world to know? How much you love Aurifil thread? That your kid got an A on his math test? The awesome thing you had for lunch today? (But whatever it was, it won't beat the pulled pork parfait. Sorry.)
I'll randomly choose four winners on Thursday, Sept. 15. For more information about Aurifil and their thread weights, click here. Good luck!
Hi. I am a new convert to Aurifil after seeing some of the buzz about it on the web. I must admit I love it - I have only used it for piecing at the moment but want to add to my thread stash with some of the other weights - would love some to try. As for the message on the scorboard? I guess it would be something to do with my family - maybe showing off my adorable niece who is nearly 2! Thanks C
ReplyDeleteI want to try aurilif yarn. Very nice colors! The football wall writing: Edit Happy name day!
ReplyDeleteI've recently tried Aurifil thread for the first time and I love. Thanks for the chance of winning some more. I'd write on the scoreboard:
ReplyDeleteAURIFIL RULES!!!
wow, I have to have a bbq parfait (drool)!!! I would probably put "banana" up on a scoreboard 'cause my 13 month old just started saying it and it's hilarious :) I definitely want to try out some Aurifil!
ReplyDeleteOoh something neew to try. There's no chance of me finding this in the Czech Republic!
ReplyDeleteMy message would be "Don't worry, be happy"
Wow!! That parfait looks drool-worthy! I want one!! My sign message would be...Joe and Kiki forever!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE Aurifil! My message would be: It's never too late to explore creativity!
ReplyDeleteI would just HAVE TO put a pic of my grandson up there - ha! Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDelete"57 days 'til retirement!"
ReplyDeleteAurifil is not yet available in my area, maybe that's what I'd put on the score board!
ReplyDeletebendingpins(at)gmail(dot)com
I have been sewing since I could hold a needle, "just a few years ago, ha" and I am just now learning what a difference the thread makes. The billboard "what is, is and what ain't, ain't"
ReplyDeleteI've been looking for this in my area as well, but have yet to find it. Maybe, it's not offered... LOL! That doesn't mean I'm not looking! Thanks for the giveaway! Maybe, I can stop looking and try it out now!
ReplyDeleteI would seriously put, "My kids are awesome!" because #1, they are, and #2, that is what they walk around telling me all the time. LOL I've been seeing all the talk about this thread and hope to try it out soon wether or not I or not.
ReplyDeleteMichelle
MKelley5199(at)metrocast(dot)net
I'd probably say "I'd rather be quilting!" I'd love to try Aurifil for the first time. Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteNice lunch Lee...mmmmmmmmmmm. On the sign; I would put a big pic of my hubby and tell the world " he is the best" might sneak a pic of my boys and grandsons in there too...lol
ReplyDeleteThat scoreboard post is awesome!! Way to go McLurky!
ReplyDeleteHaven't tried Aurifil yet so this would be great! If hubby put something on the sign, I would want it to say: "We're going to Europe!"
ReplyDelete"Yes I'm reading my Kindle at the ballgame" It's a family joke....my parents use to force me to go to the local minor league games here. I always took a book a read through the game. Thanks for a chance to win!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great birthday! Mine's this saturday :-)
ReplyDeletewould love to try the Aurifil thread also!!
Oh, I've been dying to try some of that Aurifil thread, so thanks for the chance to win! I'm not as creative as your husband when it comes to ballpark scoreboards so I'd probably post something incredibly boring!
ReplyDeleteWell this morning I would want the world to know "I woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Anything I touch may crumble to pieces." Ha! But on any other day it might go something like this "Go CUBBIES!" Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI've never used Aurifill thread and I'd love to try it, thanks for the chance!
ReplyDelete"Go team!" Yes, I know. boring. But, I am not a huge sports fan. In fact, I've been known to cheer for BOTH teams playing! LOL. :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you for a chance to win some Aurifil thread. :-)
"A needle pulling thread is the best sport around." thanks for the chance to win and Happy Birthday.
ReplyDeleteStick 'whatever happened to the summer' on the board and that would sum up the lack of good weather we got!
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to get past the pork parfait, although on Cupcake Wars a girl put mashed potatoes on top of a southern challenge it didn't sound as good. On the board, I would probably put my usual "Woot Woot"
ReplyDeleteHello Lee,
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried this thread yet, usually use what you use to use. I can't believe the food you have in America, I would probably put "Go Aussie" on the board. Samantha Stosur has just won the Americian Tennis Open so would promote her too.
Happy days.
Bev.xoxo
I'd put a shout-out to my wonderful husband of 2 months! thanks for the giveaway - i've been dying to try aurifil
ReplyDelete16 Muddy feet are good for the soul.
ReplyDeleteLove your husband's message. I would write "someone buy me one of those barbeque parfaits."
ReplyDeleteWould love to try Aurifil threads ... as for the scoreboard I think I'd say "Will and Lilah hold my heart" for my sweet grandbabies.
ReplyDeleteI think the board would say 'Stitching rules!
ReplyDeleteWow, I've never used that thread at all. I'd be so happy to win!
ReplyDeleteI'd say, "Keep Family First!" So many people let other things get in the way of their family time together and I would remind them to remember their families!
Thanks!
I have been using Guterman's, mostly, in the hopes that it would reduce the lint in my machine. I would love to try the Aurifil thread. Beautiful Colors. I would probably put, "Que tal, perro?"
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI'd put 'Come on England' ( in the rugby World Cup!)
My lunch was leftover cake... hard to top that in my book ;) I would put a movie reference in there.. who doesn't love a reference to a classic feel good movie, right?
ReplyDeleteI haven't used aurifil but would LOVE to give it a try. Thanks for the chance!
Gosh, I wish my ballpark had that parfait for sale! My billboard would say "Married to the best husband for XXX years!" Thanks for the giveaway. I'd love to try the Aurifil. Kathie L in Allentown
ReplyDeleteI love Aurifil...but have only tried the 50 wt..would love to sample the other wts..
ReplyDeleteI would love to put "i am proud of my kids" on the billboard...
Well, seeing as my kid plays football...and I can appreciate baseball, but I am truly not in to it...I would probably put "Suz Made Me Do It" Suz is the reason I quilt (She finally MADE me try it...LOL...amongst other things...LOL). Would love to try that thread. Thanks for the opportunity!
ReplyDeleteI would post "I'd rather be sewing". Would like to try the Aurifil Thread, especially the wool thread.
ReplyDeleteI would love to try some of this thread! I'd put "Luckiest Mom in the World" on the billboard.
ReplyDeleteMy message would be "Thank you God for my family". Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteWell, if I won this great giveaway I might have to put up something like "Freshly Pieced is almost as awesome as a BBQ Parfait" LOL
ReplyDeleteSo you can really tell a difference using the Aurifil instead of Guterman? I'd love to try it out and see. I'm sure my billboard message would be something corny but true like "Thank you God for my life!"
ReplyDeleteI piece and quilt exclusively with Aurifil, except when I use a friends long arm. She's got her own thread for that thing. I'd say "hello" to my daughter in heaven if I had a chance to put something on a billboard.
ReplyDeleteI've been seeing this thread all over blogland and am dying to try some! I think right now a scoreboard would have to say "no more rain!" since our area flooded last week and there is still rain in the forecast. sounds like you had a great birthday :)
ReplyDeleteHow cool is your husband! I would put "Just Breathe!!!". Thanks for a chance to win.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Lee! You certainly celebrated in style! I also just started using Aurifil after receiving a spool of it for my birthday! Not readily available here and too expensive to order, so once this is done I'll probably have to go back to Gutermann.
ReplyDeleteMt billboard would say Retired To Quilt.
Thanks for the giveaway!
Ohhhh those look so lovely!! I would probably put up "I wish this was a football game."
ReplyDeleteAnd that parfait? It looks amazing. Woah.
Your husband rocks! I would probably put the same cheesy message about how much I love my hubby. :) I am a pretty standard person. Thanks for the chance to win this! I have been wanting to try Aurifil too! Go Cards!! (Although I doubt they will even make playoffs this year so I will have to root for my Packers instead!)
ReplyDeletei would definitely have it say "Go Packers" - while at the Brewer game. =)
ReplyDeleteOk, that pork thing looks - umm, AMERICAN. I guess you'd have to taste it to believe it...
ReplyDeleteI'm dying to try Aurifil - as far as I know it hasn't made it to Australia yet, but i have no idea what I'd put on a scoreboard. Maybe "Are we there yet?"
Hi! I would put something like, "I love you" and them my kids' names and husband's name!
ReplyDeleteLooks like great thread!
maryjowyse(@)yahoo.com
Your husband is brilliant! Can I copy him? I'm so uncreative when it comes to things like titles and billboards. so I'd have to be boring but simple: Quilt More!
ReplyDeleteI am itching , and I mean going NUTS, to try this thread! So want a no lint quilt top!! :) Thanks!
ReplyDeleteooooooo, aurfil.....drool! I have never tried it and would love to win!
ReplyDelete"All Moms Rock!" That's what I would put on the scoreboard!
Aurafil would be great to try. I just got some isacord' too. I see thread wars in my future! As for a message board, that's hard to decide. "family always comes first" comes to mind and it is my motto. "Be nice" also seems fitting sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI would love to try some Aurifil thread.
ReplyDeleteI think I would write..."Keep Calm and Quilt On"
hmmmmm- Ive never tried Aurfil. Well, my husband is a Huge Red Sox fan, so on their billboard it would probably be something about my hubby being in heaven watchin' the Sox ;)
ReplyDeleteThe parfait looks unbelievable!! I would love to try some Aurifil.
ReplyDeleteI would write "Happy 21st Julia!"
Amazing parfait; I hadn't heard of anyhing like that. As for the billboard message...something silly I suppose, like "Put eat chocolate on your to do list and you will always accomplish something". Thanks for the chance to try some Aurifil thread.
ReplyDeleteMy sewing machine loves this thread! Hum, I think that I would most likey put something corny like "I love you both, Dave and Abby, very much."
ReplyDeleteI'd love to try aurifil thread! I keep hearing about it...will have to try to find some unless I'm lucky enough to win some...hint, hint.
ReplyDeleteBillboard: You're the best! (That way, everyone will feel better!)
First of all, that pulled pork parfait looks INCREDIBLE! I'm going to have to show it to my barbecue-loving hubby.
ReplyDeleteAs to what I'd put on the scoreboard, I'd probably say something like, "Be kind."
I'd write "Thank a soldier today!"
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win. I'd really like to try out this thread.
Id go with: Go Cubs! Or. don't buy a pet, rescue one! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity! I've heard so much about this thread but haven't had the good fortune to try it.
Lwghosts(at)yahoo.com
Aurifil is awesome! On that scoreboard - I'd probably have to write "Go Phillies!" being a Philly fan. :)
ReplyDeleteLEE!!!! I was mostly trying to ignore that game....(ahem GO Phils!!!)BUT that parfait looks absolutely AMAZING!!! I'm going to have to go to a game JUST to get my hands on one!!!
ReplyDeleteWould they even put "GO Phils" on the score board?? ; )
WHy it would have to be "Congratulations, Amy and Kyle!" - my daughter is getting married in less than 5 weeks!
ReplyDeleteThat lunch looks divine!! At first I thought it was a parfait with ice cream!
ReplyDeleteIf I had a chance to put something on a billboard at a baseball game it would definitely have to be "World Peace"!
I'm also a Guterman girl--would be interested to try this, but I've never seen it in real life!
ReplyDeleteMy message would be something old (stereotypical) and true like "love conquers all." Or something like that. Never too much of the stuff, IMHO. ^_^
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday for Friday! I love your message! How about 'How can it be autumn, we haven't had summer yet!"...thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried Auriful threads but would like to. I temd to buy what is local...Coats and Clarks...I think they are local for the world! :) Anyway, this would be a great chance to give it a try.
ReplyDeleteMy signage: "If the Son shall make you free, then you shall be free indeed."
I'd love to try this thread! As for the message, I just woke up, so there is no inspiration here. Thanks for the chance. (soniaquilts at gmail dot com)
ReplyDeleteYour pork parfait has given me a fun idea to try with dinner sometime.
ReplyDeletemy message this week would have to say something like, 'My love for you (my husband) can't be measured in yards or stitches. Happy 7th anniversary!'
I would love to try this thread! Looks like you had an awesome birthday! My scoreboard message would read "Did we win yet?" (inside joke with the hubby ;)
ReplyDeleteWould love to try aurafil. i would probably say, "just keep sewing, just keep sewing..." in Dory's voice from Finding Nemo.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to try aurifil, but I keep hearing about it and how wonderful it is. I was like you, JoAnns doesn't carry it and other shops are too far away. Didn't even think to check on Amazon.
ReplyDeleteMy billboard would say. "Mark and Leah, 15 years and counting!"
Would love to try this thread!! My message you be "I love Ry and Sis!!!" Thanks for the giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteNever heard of Aurifil thread. Would love to try. On the billboard: Impatient Cajun loves her Sweetpea
ReplyDeleteThe BBQ parfait is a brilliant idea! I think for my baseball scoreboard message I'd put something like "Monkey loves her Panda," since those are the nicknames my hubby and I have for each other. (awwwwwww). ;)
ReplyDeleteSince our KC Royals stink again this year my message would be "Is it football season yet?"
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance.
Pulled Pork Parfait....it's what's for dinner!
ReplyDeleteThat is one item on the menu for dinner this week to be sure! Maybe served with corn on the cob!
thanks for the giveaway. for the scoreboard, i think i'd put up as many "s"s as would fit. my daughter recently figured out that's the first letter of her name and is slightly obsessed with finding the letter on different things.
ReplyDeleteI would have them write "My husband made me come to this game", unless it's hockey, then I would write, "I love this game!".
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway. I'll have to check out their website. Have never used it before but I know different quality of cotton threads can have more or less lint than others. From the sounds of your comment, this is a good one. :)
ReplyDeleteI love new thread!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE aurifil! Until about a month ago, only one store about 30 min away carried only neutral colors. Now there's a store an hour away that has it. Thanks! Not sure what I'd put on a scoreboard... probably a simple "Happy birthday ____!
ReplyDeleteI'd have them write on the scoreboard, "Son, get your finger out of your nose". He's had a little obsession lately. Thanks for the giveaway. I've really wanted to try Aurifil.
ReplyDeleteLet's see, since Aurifil is so great and I have fallen in love with it, maybe I would put up something about it! Aurifil Rocks! definitely has a nice ring to it, don't you think? ;)
ReplyDeleteYour hubby and my hubby would get along great...or cause too much trouble. My hubby did pretty much the same thing. So I'd put like happy birthday to myself or happy birthday, anniversary and merry Christmas to you, honey! I'm done for the year! Lol
ReplyDeletepick me, pick me! :)
ReplyDeleteSweet gift from your hubs... I'm lucky if I get a card! Though he has gone and slept on the floor with my son the last three nights in a row because for some reason, Mr. Steiger doesn't want to sleep... full moon?
Don't enter me in the giveaway, but I just had to comment on that amazing "parfait." When we lived in Wisconsin we used to have Brewer's season tickets--I've never been so cold so many times at a baseball game! But the weather looked nice for you then. Happy Birthday!! And I love that your husband put your passion up on the baseball scoreboard. What a guy.
ReplyDeleteElizabeth E.
occasionalpiece.wordpress.com
I would put "I love my Sweetie" on the sign. He would know it was from me to him.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity to win the Aurifil...I love Aurifil thread! And, for the board..."Quilting Rocks!"
ReplyDeleteHey, I'll try some new threads. Never even heard of these, but then again I don't necessarily consider myself a quilter,...yet.
ReplyDeletereklimes (at) usfamily (dot) net
Well, I've never tried Aurifil, and I've definitely been curious about it lately, would love to try it! As for a scoreboard, I would probably write something to to my little guy, like "Mommy loves Ryan" or something equally dorky and embarrassing :)
ReplyDeleteI have used the aurifil thread for hand applique and just love it. I haven't tried the machine weight yet but everyone seems to love that too. That pork parfait looked so great. I never saw anything like that before. I would put on the billboard, Happy Autumn.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to win the thread! More thread is always a good thing- especially good thread (which I've recently been converted to).
ReplyDeleteI'd put on the scoreboard- 1, 2, 3 Sew!
la.emperatriz at gmail.com
Your parfait looks yummy...gonna have to try that for a fun football night at home!
ReplyDeletehmmm on the score board I would put....hug your kids today...
I'd love to try some Aurifil thread. I hear so much about it but have never seen any in captivity.
ReplyDeleteOn a billboard I would write, "Kevin. Love You Forever. Heather. And there would be two huge photos of us ... one when we were married and one of us now ... 27 years later.
Hmm.... I think my scoreboard message would be "I'd rather be sewing." Haha. Not much of a sports fan, can you tell? :P
ReplyDeleteI'm semi tired of waiting for my BF to propose so I might just propose to him on a scoreboard!
ReplyDeleteOh, what a lovely giveaway. I've only pieced and quilted one quilt so far and the second one is in the works. Up to now I've only used Guterman's threads and would love the opportunity to try a different one.
ReplyDeleteMy dream note for a scoreboard is "Good Doc, you're gonna be a daddy!" Directed to my husband. Unlikely to ever happen but it's good to dream.
I have been wanting to try this thread. I also have only used Guttermans. I would put on the sign "my husband rocks- he bought an antique chair for just me - a reading/stitching chair!" yeah!
ReplyDeleteI'm converting my kids to delicious foods: tomato, avocado, basil, cheddar or pepper jack, cream cheese sandwich. DON'T forget the basil.
ReplyDeleteI would put on the sign "Mommy loves Noah and Benjamin!" I would love to try some new thread.
ReplyDeleteWould love to try the Aurifil thread... the scoreboard message would probably be "the gnomes are in the house" - my kids have knicknamed me "the gnome" due to my short stature.
ReplyDeleteLovely giveaway. I've been toying with the idea of purchasing some Aurifil thread to try. I too have been using what's found easiest at my local fabric store.
ReplyDeleteI've never used Aurifil I'd love to try it. I would post "Shimmy More" on the billboard...but I'm a bellydancer, so I'm biased.
ReplyDeleteThe BBQ parfait sounds super delish - I'm surprised KFC doesn't already have that on the menu :) I would have the Wrigley Field sign say "This World Series win is dedicated to Gina, our #1 fan!" for my mom who loves the Cubs, even though they stink! Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI would love to write: "I love to quilt!!" on the sign. I would also love to try Aurifil. : )
ReplyDeletekellyeann (at) mac (dot) com
Absolutely hilarious post! I feel utterly uncreative with this scoreboard message question, so maybe I actually will have to declare my love for Aurifil! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI would lOVEEE to win this! Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome parfait! I had to send the link to my hubbie :)
ReplyDeleteI would put on the board "We miss you Daddy!" - he is in Romania for 2 more weeks with work - thanks for the chance!
I would put "If you are reading this, I am home alone and sewing - don't hurry back!" xx
ReplyDeleteWow! that parfait looks amazing & hooray for your secret code scoreboard message.
ReplyDeleteMy message would quote the show 'Psych' and read: "are you a fan of delicious flavor?" :)
I actually had the chance to put something on a scoreboard when my husband was deployed to Iraq for the 2nd year out of 3 years and the baseball club returned my check and would not let me pay the usual fee. That was awesome!!
ReplyDeleteWow! That was so cute and creative of your husband. What a sweetie! I've never heard of a parfait like that before. And I have no idea what I'd write! Something like I love my 3 sons or something mushy like that.
ReplyDeleteMine would say, "I'm just here for the food."
ReplyDeleteThat parfait looks so, so good. I don't know what I'd write. Probably something cheesy like "My heart belongs to Jeremy!"
ReplyDeleteHmmm...uhh...wow. I have no idea what I would put on a sign thousands and thousands of people would read. The pressure! I think it would read, "I like turtles." Because I would panic, just like that kid ;) Thanks for the chance to win! I keep reading about this thread and seeing giveaways, I'll have to check it out.
ReplyDeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY!! I'm eating a yummy Red Velvet cupcake just for you... I would LOVE to try out some Aurifil thread!! Thanks for the opportunity...
ReplyDeleteps.. my husband doesn't know it yet, but he's going to by trying one of those parfaits tonight (left over BBQ from the weekend!!)
I'm thinking I would be cheesy and classic and tell my husband I love him with an inside joke somehow involved:) Thanks for the giveaway! I LOVE aurofil!
ReplyDeleteHmmm...my mind is blank. Maybe I'd put, "I'd rather be home quilting!" Would love to try this thread.
ReplyDeleteI would probably do some sort of I love you message for my husband, b/c he does deserve to be acknowledged on such a grand scale like that!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway. I've heard so much about Aurifil thread but haven't tried it yet.
I would tell my son that I love him. He is the greatest kid in the world & everyone should know. LOL

ReplyDeleteToday it would be great to yell at the top of my lungs on my way out the door today at 2:30 "I'M NOT REALLY SICK! I JUST DON'T WANT TO BE HERE TODAY HAHAHAHA SUCKAHS!"
ReplyDeleteThat parfait looks like heaven in a glass to me. I'm alllll about the savoury. Aurifil definitely produces less lint than Gutermann - my machine loves it. (Don't enter me in the giveaway, though - I've got my own coming up!).
ReplyDeleteThat barbacue looks like an ice-cream.
ReplyDeleteI`d say I love play with fabrics!!
I never use Aurofil thread and I`d love some.
Your husband is funny! My husband wouldn't know a wonky block if it slapped him in the face. If I had to write something I'd also say "I'd rather be quilting" ... like some others :-)
ReplyDeleteI JUST discovered Aurofil a few months ago and I use it for piecing as I only have creme so far... would love some colors! I need to find a LQS that carries it. Got mine from some online fabric shop! Any happy birthday!!!!
I'd put something like 'Handmade is best' or 'Kiss the person next to you.'
ReplyDeleteI'd love to try the thread!
I would put "For Frodo!" because I'm a huge Lord of the Rings fan and other people who are like-minded would also love it :)
ReplyDelete"Do an act of random kindness for our troops today" Thanks for the great chance to win some wonderful thread. VermontPines@aol.com
ReplyDeletehmmmm........."Big Mickie Rocks!" (DH) He just cooked me another great meal!
ReplyDeleteOn a game jumbotron, I would say, "Will work for fabric!" I'm a freelance writer/editor/proofreader, and think a situation where I could be "paid" in fabric would be awesome. Thanks for this super giveaway. I've been an Aurifil fan for at least eight years.
ReplyDeleteAt first your picture looked like a Peanut Buster Parfait on steroids, but pulled pork is so much more awesome!! YUM! My baseball billboard would say: I'd rather be watching college football. HA! Thanks for the give-away! Have always wanted to try that thread!
ReplyDeleteAs I have so many WIP's I would have "Finally - we have a finish!". Would love to try some Aurifil thread. Thanks for the chance

ReplyDeleteOMG that sign is HILARIOUS!!! What a great husband. :) And that BBQ in a cup looks delish.
ReplyDeleteLOL! How about "Lee is great!" I'd love to try out the different aurifil threads. Thanks for counting me in.
ReplyDeleteHahahhaaa... I'd put my favorite quote "Don't compromise yourself, its the only thing you've got." - Janis Joplin I've been dying to try Aurifil. Hope I win!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win some Aurifil - I've been wanting to try some! Your hubby is hilarious...I wish mine would put something on a billboard for me. If I put a message up on a sign today I'd say "Happy Birthday to ME!" (b/c it's my bday today). Happy Belated to you!
ReplyDeleteHave read so much about it but haven't tried it -- would love to win some Aurifil!
ReplyDeleteAs to the board -- "After the game, let's go to Grandma's house"!
Your husband is so sweet and your mashed potato parfit looks good! I would say GO AURIFIL!
ReplyDeleteOh, I would LOVE to try Aurifil thread, and a bbq parfait - uh, not together. ggg
ReplyDeleteI think I would say, " I love that man of mine!"
Thanks for a great blog, and a chance to win this great thread.
I want the world to know that I graduated from UW - Milwaukee! And I already LOVE Aurifil thread!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great giveaway!
I tend to say "Live it up" a lot. That sounds good for a scoreboard.
ReplyDeletei would love to try aurfil, like you i mostly buy Guterman's from JAF at 40% off!
ReplyDeleteyour scoreboard is most awesome! let's see...i would put up something like...Hug your child.
I just quilted a quilt with Aurifil and there was no breakage and hardly any lint in the machine...love it. My scoreboard saying would be "Vacations are awesome but it is so good to get back home!"
ReplyDeleteIt was my first anniversary with my hubby yesterday so I would probably put "One year and still tolerating you". j/k...love the guy, but wouldn't want to embarrass him too much with something mushy.
ReplyDeleteGood question.... it would have to say "Quilters Rule!"
ReplyDeleteLove Aurifil!
I don't know what I would put up there. Maybe "I'd rather be home sewing." I'm not much of a sports fan...
ReplyDeleteSo far I've only used Mettler but am interested in trying others. I haven't found any Aurifil in the shops around here. Thanks for the opportunity to win! Not sure what my sign would say...
ReplyDeleteHow fun! And that parfait - all I can say is WOW. I guess my message would be "I like your shirt." It's a standard with my coworkers :) I've never tried Aurifil, but I'd like to !
ReplyDeleteThis week I'd have to say happy first anniversary to my darling husband.
ReplyDeleteI think I would have to say thank you to our Troops!
ReplyDeleteI think I would say my mantra this week. "It will be ok. I'll take care of it."
ReplyDeleteWhen I first saw the picture I thought you had a peanut butter parfait, my favorite..haha. Your's also looked good and what a thoughtful husband.
ReplyDeleteBeing a Marine mom I'd probably put something up like "Thank you to our militry men, women and their families for their sacrifices abroad and at home"
Thank you for a great giveaway and a chance to win.
usairdoll(at)gmail(dot)com
I've never tried aurifil, but I keep hearing about it. I'd love to give it a shot. :) What weight are you supposed to use for machine sewing vs hand sewing?
ReplyDeleteLet's see, what would I put up on a scoreboard?
Maybe, "Smile at a stranger, they may be your next friend." Except y'know, non-creepily. :D
Now that is what I call a proper sundae, forget ice cream and chocolate, mashed potatos are food of the gods. Only in America!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog, keep up the good work.
Thanks for the giveaway opportunity. I enjoy reading your blog. My message would say "Smile"!
ReplyDeleteI've never tried Aurifil thread. Like you, I usually use Guterman because it's easy to find at the fabric shop.
ReplyDeleteOn the scoreboard...I'd rather be quilting.
Yeah, I'd definitely rather be at my sewing machine than at a football game.
I didn't know Aurifil was available on Amazon! Great tip. I've been using Gutermann too, but my machine hasn't been liking it so much lately. I need to give this a try!
ReplyDeleteI pulled my Garden Fence quilt out of the dryer this morning, so I'd put "I just finished a Christmas gift" on the billboard. Cause I'm pretty proud!
(P.S. I need to find a barbecue sundae for lunch!)
My son just started kindergarten. He desperately wants to be a super hero - a real one. He is afraid that if he becomes one that his teacher will not let him leave school if he needs to "save the day." I would leave a comment for him. Something along the lines of this - "Notice to all kindergarten super heroes: You are allowed to leave school if you need to save the day!" He loves signs and this would make his day. We have one sign in the living room that reads "No News" - this one went up when we turned the channel to watch the evening news yet again. Another is in the garage to notify us that snowmen are not allowed in the house – “They would melt mom.” No it cannot come down when it is 100 degrees out - it may snow you know. THANKS!
ReplyDeleteMy boy smile to me today!!
ReplyDeleteI just got a brand new wool coat from Costco for $70. It was freezing this morning and I wore it to work. I think I would want to tell everyone about the fantastic deal! :)
ReplyDeleteOh what a sweet husband! I would say that my kids are the greatest!

ReplyDeleteToday is my oldest son's 9th birthday so I would probably post something to utterly embarass him! I know in a few years (20 or so) he would appreciate it!

I'd post "I'd rather be sewing!" on the billboard! I would love to try this thread, I've heard so much about it - but can't locate it locally... Thanks for a chance to win! :)
ReplyDelete"I'm sew happy!"
ReplyDeleteI have also only used Guterman and would love to try aurifil.
ReplyDeleteI go to TONS of Astros games...I'd probably post something like, "no, we're not picstalking YOU...ok, maybe you though!" My sister is constantly taking pictures, and some of the players love it while others...not so much! :)
ReplyDeleteAt this moment I would put "Levi Johnson for President" on a billboard just for giggles. I am so tired of seeing that fool on TV.
ReplyDeleteI have never tried this thread and would LOVE to!
Have never tried but I am totally in need of thread. Have recently rediscovered my love of sewing (now that children sleep thru the night and I have some energy!!) & am so hooked! but on a limited budget, so some thread would be amazing!!! thanks!
ReplyDeleteBut "happy birthday" is boring, and really, how would you know it was REALLY for you? I've got some Aurifil in my machine now, loves the stuff it really is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI had ice cream for lunch, psh diets are boring and who wants to be skinny right? Right? ;)
I'd go with Happy Birthday - but only if it wasn't really my sweetie's birthday. If it was, then "Math and Safety!" because those are his mottoes.
ReplyDeleteLove that Aurifil thread! Would love to try different weights. It is in limited distribution around here.
ReplyDeleteI would put on the scoreboard my motto - "Each day is a gift, that is why it is called the present."

ReplyDeleteOh, I have been wanting to try that thread after hearing all the buzz about it. No idea on the scoreboard, probably flash a picture of my cute kids, or throw out an odd movie line. Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya...
ReplyDeleteWhat I would put on a scoreboard is "You're perfect just the way you are". Powerful message that people need to embrace. Love the thread, have used it for years. Thanks for a great giveaway!

ReplyDeleteHow fun! I wonder if my kids would eat dinner better if it looked like an ice cream sundae?
ReplyDeleteI would want to put something funny that would make random people laugh and my family roll on the floor, but I'm not coming up with anything right now.
Happy Birthday!!!
