Pin: Raspberry Lemonade Beer Cocktail
My version:
This drink was crazy good and very refreshing, which was key, since it was like eleventy-thousand degrees that day. The cocktail turned out a little stronger than I like, so I added about a beer bottle's worth of water, as well as lots of ice to the main container and in each glass. The result: I didn't think it even tasted like beer! My sister-in-law had some before I could tell her what was in it, and she was shocked that there was any beer in there, much less that it was mostly beer.
The drinking jars are available here.
Pin: Drink Dispenser
My version:

I really wanted a drink dispenser for my beer cocktail. I found mine on Amazon: Hammered Glass Beverage Dispenser with Spigot.
Pin: Flower arrangements
My version:
$11 worth of daisies and red mini-carnations made five flower arrangements in mason jars. Tied some red and white fabric scraps around the jars, and voila. And yes, I made the table runner. Of course I started it at 11 p.m. the night before, so I wouldn't say it's well-made, but it did the job. : )
Pin: Corn, Avacado and Tomato Salad with Honey Lime Dressing
My version:
Oops, forgot to take a picture of this. I was too busy eating it. But mine looked very similar and was AMAZING. So ridiculously yummy. I doubled the recipe for 21 people and it was gone by the end of the night. Pin this one ASAP.
Pin: Fourth of July candy
My version:

Does it get more all-American than licorice and lollipops? No. No, it doesn't. And the licorice went fast, so next year I might add to the candy selection a little!
And the hubs spent all day making barbecued pulled pork in his outdoor smoker ... but sadly we were both too busy to take any pictures of it. So you'll have to take my word for it that it was the best part of the entire party—and no Pinning needed for it, either! Thank you, honey!

Everything looks (and looks like it tastes) great! You done good!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you threw a great party!
ReplyDeleteYes - super cute!! And I love your comparison shots - that's very fun.
ReplyDeleteBurning question, if you didn't have a straw, would the jar glasses make your dribble? Just wondering, you know...?
ReplyDeleteYou know, I never thought of that, but I don't think so. I saw somebody drinking water out of one, sans straw, without complaint. : ) They're also very well-reviewed on Amazon. 4.5 stars out of 5 with 52 reviews.
DeleteI have a friend who uses exclusively mason jars for her drinkware, and I've never experienced a dribbling issue while I've used them, just to corroborate. :)
Deleteglad to know I'm not the only one addicted to pinterest. ;) And of course i had to repin of all your pics here.
ReplyDeletewhat great entertaining ideas! nice job!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this post! I'm a Pinterest person, too, and love the way things translate into real-life. I always bond with someone who tries out something they've seen on Pinterest. It's always a conversation starter, so you get a lot of mileage from those pretty projects. Note to self: get some mason jars NOW!

ReplyDeleteYay Pinterest! If I ever host a party, I'll be glued to it I'm sure...
ReplyDeleteI am happy that I was able to enjoy all of your efforts in person! I loved all of the details that went into your party, you did a great job. Also, I LOVED the avocado salad as well as the pulled pork (your hubs always does a great job with the smoker!). Thanks for posting links, I may need to order some drinking jars as well as the beverage dispenser!! :)
ReplyDeleteI now challege anyone to say Pinterest is a waste of time. I love it! I feel a little miffed at all the references to heat and nice weather however, no need to rub it in! Can't remember the last time I saw the sun, and I still haven't properly changed me wardrobe from winter to summer :( Much dislike for the UK weather.
ReplyDeleteOh, cool! I love seeing when people actually use their Pinterest pins, thanks for sharing! Looks like your party was quite the hit, sounds like a lot of fun :)
ReplyDeleteI want one of those drinks! It's been hotter than usual and I don't get along with heat. Your party looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree about the corn avocado salad. I've made it twice since I pinned it and can't wait to make it again!
