WIP Wednesday: Last-Minute WIPing

Happy Wednesday! And welcome to my week of last-minute scrambling!

Quilt Con quilt
In case you haven't heard, there's going to be an epic modern quilt show at Quilt Con in February, and the deadline to enter is this Friday. Unfortunately, other commitments have kept me from making any quilts specifically to enter in the show—until a few days ago, that is. Five days to create a quilt for the most important modern quilt show to date, with thousands of dollars in prizes on the line? Sure, why not! I don't know if it will be accepted (I don't even know if I'll finish it in time), but I have to at least try. Because yes, apparently I am that crazy.

What's on your to-do list this week? Whatever you're sewing, link it up here! Just remember the rules:
1. Link up any post from the past week that features at least one unfinished work-in-progress (WIP).
2. Somewhere in your post, you must link back here to my blog. (Or grab my WIP Wednesday button for your sidebar.)
3. Comment on at least a few of the other WIP Wednesday links. Because what fun is a linky party without comments?

Have a great week—get those Quilt Con entries in!

WIP Wednesday: Quilting and Cooking

I have to admit, the WIP that's most on my mind this week is my grocery list, as I get ready to host Thanksgiving for the first time. (What am I thankful for? That I'm cooking for only a small group!) But here's a sneaky peek of something else I've been working on:

Quilting, quilting, and more quilting. My Janome Horizon is worth its weight in gold this week.

Have a great week, and happy Thanksgiving to those in the U.S.!

WIP Wednesday: Happy Place

Well, it's Wednesday, but I don't have a lot to report this week. I spent the bulk of the week at Disney World with my family, so sewing was minimal.

But we did do a little of this ....

... and this ....

... and this!

So I'm not complaining. : )

And check out the box full of awesome that was waiting for me when we got home:

This would be one (yes, only one!) of my prizes for taking third place in the Salt Lake Modern Quilt Guild's EZ Dresden Challenge. It was on my doorstep when I arrived home from the airport—not a bad way to be welcomed home! I should be able to finish a few WIPs with this haul, don't you think? Thank you to the SLMQG and all the challenge sponsors, especially Simplicity and Gutermann!

And if you just can't get enough of the master photography shown above, follow me (freshlypieced) on Instagram—there's plenty more where those came from. : )

If you got more done than me this week, how about linking up? Here are the rules:

Have a happy week!

WIP Wednesday: Guest-Hosted by Svetlana

Hello, happy Wednesday everyone! My name is Svetlana and I blog over at s.o.t.a.k handmade. I'm so glad to be guest hosting this week's WIP Wednesday. Thanks for having me, Lee!

I love WIP Wednesdays as they keep me on track and help me "remember" all the projects I should be working on before starting any new ones. Lately it's been all about preparing for my first-ever craft fair, so I spent most of my sewing time making pouches, pouches, and more pouches. Here are some of my latest creations.

Thankfully, the craft fair is on Saturday and I'll be able to get back to quilting soon. It's about time, too. My design wall is overflowing with tons of unfinished miscellaneous blocks that beg for some love and attention.

I'm planning on using Amy's fantastic tutorial and making these two blocks into sewing kits.

I'm also looking forward to turning this improv pieced as well as my "think" blocks into pillows. I've fallen in love with rectangular pillows lately and both of these will make a nice addition to my pillow collection. Oh, I'm so glad my family does not mind having a gazillion pillows all around the house.

And then there's this churn dash quilt I'm making as a Christmas present for my FIL. I have almost all the blocks cut out, and most of the HSTs trimmed, now it's just a question of sitting down and assembling the blocks. Sounds simple, right? That's going to be my goal for next week. Wish me luck :)

Now it's your turn. What have you been working on this week? Here are the rules for linking up:

On Display

So, did anybody get to International Quilt Festival in Houston this past week? I am so proud that I had a quilt hanging at the Festival!

My Supernova quilt was part of the Modern Quilt Guild Showcase 2012. I'm honored that something I made was chosen to help represent "modern" to the rest of the quilting world.

I love that the Modern Quilt Guild included my blurb about my design process, which is taken from the application I filled out to enter the quilt in the show. I guess if I had known it would end up on a sign at International Quilt Festival for all to see, I might have edited it a little more carefully ("but yet"?). : )

I wish wish wish I could have seen my quilt there in person, but thank you to Heidi of Buttons and Butterflies for taking such great pictures and allowing me to post them here. It was almost as good as being there.

I was lucky enough to have a couple of quilts displayed at Fall Quilt Market as well. Here's the quilt I contributed to the new Martingale book, Modern Quilts from the Blogging Universe. Apparently it was displayed at Martingale's Schoolhouse session for the book—I didn't even know they were planning to have my quilt there! It's hard to believe it's been almost a year since I've seen it myself!

And here's my little Lifesavers mini, which was my entry in the Salt Lake Modern Quilt Guild's EZ Dresden challenge.

It took third place in the challenge and therefore got to be displayed in the Simplicity booth at Market. Don't all those winning quilts look great?

It was fun to have some quilts at Market—it's the next best thing to being there in person!
