Candy Necklace quilt

Welcome to Blog Blitz Day for the book Modern Quilts from the Blogging Universe. It has been so much fun to be included in this fabulous book! My quilt in the book is called "Candy Necklace."

Modern Quilts from the Blogging Universe includes 19 quilt patterns from bloggers like myself. The book represents a wide range of "modern" quilting styles and viewpoints—not unlike the online community itself. I think it's a great little collection of patterns, with something to appeal to quilters of all skill levels and styles.

There are also mini profiles of each of the blogger/designers with our thoughts on blogging and modern quilting. It's really an honor for me to be included among the talented and inspiring bloggers in this group, and to see one of my patterns not just in print, but in a book! After my "What is Modern Quilting" lecture a few weeks ago, someone brought a copy up to me and I got to do my first book signing ever! I think I was a whole lot more excited about it than she was. : )

Candy Necklace in the book!

I named it Candy Necklace because the design and colors reminded me of those candy necklaces we used to have as kids. It's a classic block design, transformed by the fact that the blocks are in a chain formation, and every other block is elongated to give it a little added interest. And it uses quarter-square triangles—if you've ever done half-square triangles, quarter-squares will be no problem for you either!Interested in getting your hands on Modern Quilts from the Blogging Universe? Martingale is giving away an e-book copy of the book, and I'm giving away two "real" copies, so there will be three winners from my post! Just a post a comment here for your opportunity to win (and make sure to include your email address). I'll pick a winner on Tuesday, Jan. 29. And head over to Martingale's blog for links to all the other bloggers Blog Blitz posts. You'll have 18 more chances to win!
