An Interview With Me and a Trunk Show

Just wanted to let you guys know that I'm being interviewed today by Jennifer over at Gable House Quilts! If you're interested in ever getting into the pattern-designing business yourself, you'll want to follow Jennifer's "House Guest" series on her blog. So far she has also interviewed Melissa of Happy Quilting and Elizabeth of Don't Call Me Betsy, and it's been a really interesting series so far! Jennifer asked me about everything from how I manage my time to where I get my inspiration to business processes and practicalities. Head over there to check it out—and thank you, Jennifer, for the great interview.

One other reminder: I will be doing a trunk show at Royce Quilting in West Bend, Wisconsin, tomorrow morning. I'll be talking a little about my journey in quilting, my "modern traditionalism" design style, and I'll have lots of quilts to show you, including all of my quilts from Vintage Quilt Revival! I hope to see you there if you're in the area.

Really interesting read. I'm just starting to enter the world of pattern design and loved reading about your transition from hobby to career. In the article you said that your quilt guild members are pattern testers for you and was wondering how you compensate them and how many testers you use for each pattern. Thank you so much for your encouragement of newbies to enter the business world of quilting.

Copyright and Permissions FAQ

Can I make a quilt that looks just like one of yours? Of course! You don't need my permission for that. But remember, it's polite (and helpful to others) to credit your source of inspiration.

Can I share one of your photos on my blog or website? Probably! But please contact me for permission first. Use of my photos for commercial purposes is prohibited.

Can I pin your photos to Pinterest? Yes, please do! I love Pinterest!

Can I sell individual items made from your tutorials or patterns? Yes! As long as you don't open a factory and start churning out hundreds of them. : ) And please do not reproduce or sell the patterns or tutorials themselves. Thank you!
