About Me

Hi there! I'm Lee. I've been sewing and quilting since 2007, and sharing my creations here on this blog since 2010. I live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with my wonderful husband; my two sweet (and sometimes crazy) daughters, ages 7 and 5; and my dog, Belle.

I began my career as a news reporter, writer, and editor (which might be one reason why I now love blogging!). Later I made a career change to graphic design, and spent 10+ years designing everything from newsletters and magazine articles to logos and wedding invitations. I started sewing in 2007, when I quit work to stay home with my oldest daughter.

I now have my own line of quilt patterns (click here for wholesale information) and I co-authored the book Vintage Quilt Revival: 22 Modern Designs from Classic Blocks in 2013. (Please click here for Vintage Quilt Revival pattern errata.)

My work has been seen in:
Quiltmaker magazine
• Fons and Porter's Easy Quilts
Quilt magazine
• the book Modern Quilts from the Blogging Universe (Martingale)
• Fat Quaterly ezine
• Sew Mama Sew
Moda Bake Shop

I also teach sewing and quilting classes. I've taught a variety of classes all over the U.S., including at the Modern Quilt Guild Portland SewDown in February 2014. And I love to talk about modern quilting—I lecture frequently at guilds about "modern traditionalism." So please contact me if your shop or guild is interested in having me visit.

I would love to hear from you! You can email me at freshlypieced at gmail dot com.

In addition to my paid sponsors, I sometimes accept free fabric, notions, or tools in exchange for posting about it on this blog or my other social media platforms. But I pledge that this practice will never change one of my product reviews or lead me to use fabric or other items that are not "my style."

I also am an Amazon Affiliate and receive compensation for items ordered via my Amazon links.

Copyright and Permissions FAQ

Can I make a quilt that looks just like one of yours? Of course! You don't need my permission for that. But remember, it's polite (and helpful to others) to credit your source of inspiration.

Can I share one of your photos on my blog or website? Probably! But please contact me for permission first. Use of my photos for commercial purposes is prohibited.

Can I pin your photos to Pinterest? Yes, please do! I love Pinterest!

Can I sell individual items made from your tutorials or patterns? Yes! But please don't open a factory and start churning out hundreds of them. : ) And please do not reproduce or sell the patterns or tutorials themselves. Thank you!
